Approaching a singing Katrina!

The actress and her new best friend Ali Zafar are apparently set to collaborate on a music album

In their recent romcom together, Ali Zafar and Katrina Kaif don't end up with each other. The picture in reality however is far from the 'not-so-perfect' reel ending.

The two actors, we hear, are all set to carry their camaraderie to the next level and collaborate on a music album.

Understandably, the actress does not want to reveal much at this point. She says, "Ali and I have definitely hit it off musically.

We share a lot of common musical interests that we're trying to take further. Let's see where it goes."

Incidentally, Kat has done a spot of nursery-rhyme singing for a kiddies' album by music maestro A R Rahman in the past.

She also learnt to play the guitar from Farhan Akhtar during Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, a talent she then applied in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan.

During the making of the latter, sources say both Kat and Ali were constantly in a huddle. "Ali and Katrina get along like a 'rock stadium' on fire.

They have a musical bonding. They enjoy each other's company. But more than that, Katrina enjoys the fact that Ali talks music, " explains a source.

If their off-screen chemistry is anything to go by, we're sure this jugalbandhi of sorts will be a treat to watch and hear of course!

Katrina Kaif launches Mad-O-Wat salon

Salman magic rubs off on Katrina

Trade pundits say Khan's former girl can take credit for Mere Brother Ki Dulhan's success

The end of Ramadan seems to have marked the beginning of a hit run for Bollywood at the box office.

After Salman Khan's stupendously successful Bodyguard, Yash Raj Films' Mere Brother Ki Dulhan has collected Rs 27 crore in its first three days.

Trade experts attribute this success to the movie's lead heroine Katrina Kaif, who has been on a hit parade (except for Tees Maar Khan which bombed last Christmas) for a while now.

"For a movie that cost the producers about Rs 30 crore, including prints and advertising, Rs 27 crore in the first three days is very good.

And it's thanks to Katrina, who's the soul of the film, " says veteran trade analyst Amod Mehra. He adds that the film's producers will easily make Rs 50 crore.

Sharing a similar view is Manod Desai of Maratha Mandir.

He says, "While MBKD didn't open as expected, it picked up over the weekend to average about 95 per cent occupancy in first three days. Even though Monday morning shows were not as occupied, it won't matter much."

Agrees Prakhar Joshi of PVR Cinemas. He pegs the romcom's collection at his multiplex chain at R 3.15 crore in the first three days.

"Even occupancy of 45 per cent on Monday is decent, never mind if the drop in the Bombay territory is more than Delhi, " he observes.

Bodyguard's success stint continues

Meanwhile, Bodyguard continues to lure in Salman's loyal audiences. Mumbai- based distributor Ramesh Sippy of Raksha Entertainment attributes it to a triple weekend for the film that released on August 31.

"The first day was Eid, so it was like a weekend. And no other star has the festival's advantage as much as Salman. Then Saturday-Sunday, followed by the weekend gone by.

It's already made the numbers for everyone associated with it. Now, it's only adding to the bonus, " he notes.

While Mehra says the craze for Bodyguard is diminishing in metropolitan cities, he's quick to point out that it's holding well in select multiplexes in select centers.

"So far, it has netted about R 115 crore. But I don't think it will cross Dabangg, " he concludes.

Indore-based distributor Aditya Choksey of Akshar Enterprises is optimistic. "Hopefully, by the end of the coming weekend, Bodyguard should cross Dabangg, which is the second biggest hit, " he maintains.

Katrina troubled by Salman's illness

Actress reshuffles her schedule to give top priority to film with her former beau

They may not be as close as they used to be, but Katrina Kaif still cares very deeply for former beau Salman Khan. The actress has decided to give his Ek Tha Tiger top priority.

Given Khan is currently undergoing treatment in America for a nerve disorder, the schedule of the movie may most probably be pushed forward.

But the actress has made it a point to keep her usually choc-o-block diary free for this film, even if it means losing out on other plum assignments.

Katrina confirms, "I will not talk about the roles that I am not doing. But, yes, Ek Tha Tiger is top priority at the moment."

A source, however, reveals that some of the projects she has refused include Ayaan Mukherjee's next with Ranbir and Yash Raj Films' Dhoom 3 with Aamir.

Adds the source, "After much persuasion, Kat was on the verge of saying yes to Ayaan because he was keen to have her in his film.

Also, with Yash Chopra's film with Shah Rukh Khan being pushed forward to next year, she thought she would be able to accommodate Ayaan's film in her schedule."

All this, however, was before she got to know about Salman's health problem.

Now with a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the next schedule of Ek Tha Tiger in Ireland, Katrina has decided to decline all new offers and keep her dates open for the film to shoot as and when Salman is fit and ready.

Anything for Sallu

"At this juncture, nothing is more important for Katrina than Salman's full recovery.

Even promoting her next release Mere Brother Ki Dulhan with a smile is proving a bit of a burden, as she is no mood to be funny, clever and mischievous as these promotional events require her to be, " says the source.
